KELSEY B. LYNN


  • FRED KITTLER is a managing director and co-founder of Firelake Capital Management LLC. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Kittler was the Co-President of Velocity Capital Management LLC, the investment adviser of the Velocity Technology and Communications Fund.

    Previously Mr. Kittler spent eleven years at J.P. Morgan Investment Management Inc. in technology. He began his career at J.P. Morgan as a software analyst in 1985, then spent six years as the portfolio manager responsible for small capitalization technology and health science investments. Prior to that, Mr. Kittler spent five years as a sell-side research analyst, for First Albany Corporation, with an emphasis on advanced defense technology. Mr. Kittler's previous experience was as a systems analyst, programmer and production manager for Graphic Management Systems in New York

    Mr. Kittler holds an M.A. in Economics from Columbia University and a B.A. in Architecture from Princeton University. He has served on the Visiting Committee for Advanced Technology at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and on the Independent Review Panel of the Public Interest R&D program of the California Energy Commission.

  • MARTIN LAGOD is a managing director and co-founder of Firelake Capital Management LLC. Mr. Lagod is responsible for private company investments. He serves as a member of the board of Miasolé, Plextronics, Nano-Tex, and HydroPoint Data Systems. He is an observer on the boards of Pionetics, Sensicore, Solicore, Liquidia, and Nanostellar, all Firelake portfolio companies.

    From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Lagod worked in the energy technology sector. He was the co-founder and CEO of Solo Energy Corporation, a start up energy technology company that developed microturbine and clean combustion reciprocating engines for the distributed power market.

    For the previous 19 years, Mr. Lagod was an intellectual property attorney based in Silicon Valley. He was a partner in the Palo Alto office of Phoenix-based Brown and Bain until 1995 and at Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto from 1995 to 2001.

    Mr. Lagod holds a B.A. in Economics (with Honors) from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

  • CANDICE EGGERSS joined Firelake Capital Management as a Managing Director in July 2003. She specializes in public market investments.

    From 2000 to 2003 Ms. Eggerss was a partner in technology hedge fund Camelot Capital, headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut. From 1996 until she joined Camelot, Ms. Eggerss was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Investment Management responsible for managing the J.P. Morgan Small Cap Opportunity Fund. From 1993 to 1996 she held various roles as analyst and research director as a partner at Weiss, Peck and Greer.

    From 1990 to 1993 Ms. Eggerss was managing director at Equitable Capital. Ms. Eggerss has expertise in IT, telecommunications, and entertainment and media. Ms. Eggerss began her financial career as a securities analyst at Morgan Stanley in 1985. She received a B.S. degree from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

  • KELSEY B. LYNN  is a principal at Firelake Capital Management, where she focuses on private investments in the cleantech sector. Kelsey leads Firelake’s efforts in the energy storage, smart grid and carbon mitigation sectors, among others. She serves on the board of EOS Climate and is a board observer with EnerG2, Simbol, Zeachem, and Thin Silicon. As part of her investment strategy, she looks for game-changing technologies backed by smart, savvy entrepreneurs dedicated to improving the status quo.

    Kelsey has worked in the energy sector since 2003, when she joined the Global Climate and Energy Project (GCEP) at Stanford University. As a technical researcher at GCEP, Kelsey focused on large-scale energy storage technologies and their potential to mitigate carbon emissions. She also worked at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and in Google’s green energy strategy group. She has served on the judging committee for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s venture competition and is the co-president for the Bay Area chapter of Young Professionals in Energy (YPE).

    Kelsey graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with her bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. She also played women’s rugby while at Stanford, leading her team to the national championship as MVP. She returned to Stanford for a master’s degree in engineering focused on energy systems analysis. Kelsey holds an MBA from Stanford, where she was president of the GSB Energy Club and she currently serves as an external career advisor for Stanford MBA students. Originally from Colorado, Kelsey’s favorite activities include hiking in the mountains, playing pickup basketball, trying to outrun her dog (always unsuccessful), funny costume parties, and anything else that makes her laugh.
